I Always Knew Michael Steele Was A Punk…

Now, he has become Rush Limbaugh’s bitch too! s-steele-large

The Republican party just told Michael to stay in your place NEGRO; we want you to do your step and fetch it routine but don’t think that you have any control over us at all.  Michael Steele has allowed himself to become a pawn who thought he could serve himself politically by being the Chairman of the RNC. How can you be the head of an organization that has contempt for you and your people? He thought he could become the Barack Obama of the Republican Party. Mr. Steele, you are not in the same league as President Obama. You showed us just who you are by apologizing to Limbaugh and it’s not pretty. You’re now his butt boy dude and there ain’t no getting around that.

Michael Steele couldn’t even win over African Americans in his own district when he ran for congress and using idiotic terms like “Hip Hop Makeover” is so out of  touch, it’s sad. He’s a joke.

Now for a little vent about the wonderful Republican Christians who never seem to practice what they like to preach; from teen pregnancy to being fair and balanced in their news reporting, to taking responsibility for the financial and governmental mess they left this country in. The Republican party is showing itself to be a bunch of hypocritical racist bigots and unbelievably stupid.

If you’re going to be a blowhard, actually have something to say or no one will listen and your relevancy will diminish even faster than it already has.

Finally…President Obama Telling GOP to Cut the BS

Finally, President Obama is letting the GOP know that he is not going to sit idly by while they run roughshod over him in regards to this Stimulus plan. He’s willing to fight back and let them know that he will not put up with or accept the same old tired games they have been playing for the past 30 years. He’s obviously not afraid to call them out on their bullshit…it makes me smile!

His President’s Black | It’s A Beautiful Thing

Pride is Pride, is Pride. I don’t have children, but if I did, I would want them to see the world just as this child does. From this point on, that black child will not feel inferior to anyone because of his race and it might be corny but President Obama made that possible by virtue of who he is, what kind of man he is and what kind of president he is turning out to be (in just six days).

Last week I shared with you all my challenges in discussing race with my six-year-old, and I just wanted to share what’s happened since.

After the MLK assignment, which required him to color in Dr. King, Justin was given an assignment on Abraham Lincoln. As with the MLK homework, Justin was instructed to color in the president, or he would actually lose points on his assignment. With no instruction from us we left him to color in the picture of Abraham Lincoln. The image above is what he created.

Yeah So we asked him why he colored in Abraham Lincoln brown. He could have said a number of things, like “he’s on a penny, and a penny is brown,” or he “looked brown in the picture.” And it’s unlikely he’s read Leroy Vaughn¹s book, Black People and Their Place In World History, which asserts that Lincoln indeed had African ancestry. So why did he do it?

“He was a president and the President is brown.”

Wow. Wherever you stand on the debate of Barack’s race and its relevance to us, the impact has been made and it is undeniable. Of course we corrected him and told him that not every president is brown by default, but dangit if I didn’t smile on the inside. His mind is open to possibilities that we never imagined at his age, and that is change I can believe in.

Marcus Garvey’s And What He Can Teach Us Now

Marcus Garvey has always been a controversial figure in the Black Community. He was many things to many people, some see him as a great leader and other see him as a political charlatan.

Steve Hahn over that The New Republic has excerpted Colin Grants book Negro With A Hat: The Rise and Fall of Marcus Garvey. It’s a fascinating look in to what Marcus has to teach us now and what lessons we can take from his controversial life.

In the pantheon of the past century’s African American leaders, Marcus Garvey holds an exceedingly ambiguous place. Widely regarded, then and now, as a spellbinding orator, a tireless organizer, and an immensely charismatic figure whose ideas seemed to resonate powerfully with many thousands (perhaps many millions) of people of African descent in the United States and abroad, Garvey has also been derided as a political charlatan, a scam artist, a religious revivalist, and a racial purist who traded on the desperation and the gullibility of his followers. Some influential black political leaders and intellectuals came to see him as an egomaniacal buffoon who imagined himself as president of an African-republic-to-be and dressed himself and his legions in resplendent military attire, aping the styles of the white authorities he set out to topple. Garvey, as W.E.B. Du Bois derisively put it, was the “negro with a hat.”

Ain’t No Line Too Damn Long…Get Your Ass In Line & Wait

It is simply pathetic when I hear people say the lines are too long. They’re not too long when you’re standing in line to get into some silly ass music concert, they’re not too damn long when you’re trying to buy the next Harry Potter book. So come on people, stop being pussies and get your ass in line and wait your turn to vote in the most important election of this generation.

Right now I’m especially talking to Black Folks. Don’t fuck this up! Leave your dumb ass conspiracy theories at home and get your ass in line; leave your ignorance at home and get your ass in line; leave your fear at home and get your ass in line. Take your love, patriotism and pride and get your ass in line.

Normally, I don’t particularly care for anything Diddy has to say, I mean he is a brilliant business man but so what. But, this video below is well worth taking a listen.

Obama Stays Cool About Assassination Plot

Considering he was called a nigger yesterday by some whack job at a Palin rally, this man doesn’t flinch. He is not afraid of some idiot skinheads who are still living in the 50s and 60s. As he says, they are not our future and so their misguided hatred is irrelevant.

Video (caution: there will be a 15 second commercial before report)

“I think what has been striking in this campaign is the the degree to which these kind of hate groups have been marginalized,” he said. “That’s not who America is. That’s not who our future is.”

“What I’ve found is people here don’t care what color you are,” Obama said of Western Pennsylvania. “What they’re trying to figure out is who can deliver. It’s just like the Pittsburgh Steelers: they don’t care what color you are, they just want to figure out, can you make the plays?”

Barack’s Closing Argument: In One Week

In one week we have an opportunity to really have a say in what our government looks like going forward. Do you want government to work for you or against you; because in the past 30 years, it has been all about the rich. What about the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to be free. Well as Barack says, in one week we can move this nation in a different direction. I want a piece of that pie, don’t you?

In one week, you can turn the page on policies that have put the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street.

In one week, you can choose policies that invest in our middle-class, create new jobs, and grow this economy from the bottom-up so that everyone has a chance to succeed; from the CEO to the secretary and the janitor; from the factory owner to the men and women who work on its floor.

In one week, you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election; that tries to pit region against region, city against town, Republican against Democrat; that asks us to fear at a time when we need hope.

In one week, at this defining moment in history, you can give this country the change we need.
